Art Alive 2007

We are back with an exciting day ahead of us to share what we have all been doing this term in our schools.
We have most of the schools from last year back with us and two new schools joining in.
On Thursday June 28th we will all be getting together at the Tamaki College hall to share our experiences with Art Alive. Knowing the fantastic work that goes on in our cluster of schools, I can predict we are in for a wonderful day.

This year we have not got together during the term at all, so it will be a wonderful surprise to see how each school has approached the topic "Art Alive". Why don't you start the blogging process by adding a comment to this post telling us how YOUR school has approached Art Alive.

Look forward to hearing from you!

Hi - it's Mikaela here from Room 18.

This term for Art Alive we have been looking at ViewPoints.
We have chosen to look at things from a shoe's viewpoint. We have done all kinds of Art using paint and pencils, dye and crayons, screen printing and lino prints and we've used Photoshop on our computers. We have taken lots of digital photos from a shoe's point of view. We have put ourselves in other people's shoes by helping them. We have written stories from a shoe's view point and made an animated story of this.
Then we had a big show at school last week with everybody's work on display in the hall. All our parents came to look and lots of other visitors too.

Looking forward to seeing what the rest of our community has done tomorrow.
See you there

Hi everyone. This is Mrs Boyer from Room 7 Glenbrae School. Our theme this term has been all about water.
We have tried to have each class use different media. We hope you enjoy the water feature in our school display. ( thank you Mr Louw)
Everyone at our school loves making artworks and, as you can see, they have all worked very hard to achieve a high standard.
We are walking down to Tamaki College at 9.00am tomorrow and are all very excited about seeing our own artworks as well as the work from other schools. We hope to get lots of new ideas to try out for ourselves.
I would like to thank all the students and staff from Glenbrae for all their hard work to make our show a success.
See you tomorrow
Mrs Boyer

Hi There - This is Miss Day from Panmure Bridge School....

This term for Arts Alive, our whole school has been focussing on Digital Photography. We have been learning about the different kinds of camera shots you can take to make a subject look more interesting in a photograph. Some children have changed the colour and tones to enhance their photos. Each class has chosen a different aspect of Panmure to focus on and photograph. We have our school's Jubilee Celebration next term (it is our 50th birthday!) so we wanted to choose a theme for our art that supported this, so Panmure Pride has done the job nicely.

We are looking forward to seeing you all at our photographic exhibition at Tamaki College tomorrow and we hope you enjoy 'Showtime' at our booth @ 9am and 2pm!

Hi All -it's Miss Paton from Glenbrae,

The big day has almost struck-less than 24 hours!!!
Glenbrae School has been very busy this term. We have been learning about water and have been integrating this subject into our artwork. My Year 4 class has been learning about the artist Claude Monet. We have created our own Waterlilies portraits using paint and Kid Pix. Come and check out our awesome display. Right in the corner next to Panmure Bridge. There is a movie on every artwork and the process in which we went through.

Looking forward in seeing everyone tomorrow,

Miss Paton

Hello everyone,
At St.Pius X we have been working very hard on learning about the Underwater World.
For art this term we have been making all different types of fish using different media. In room 6 we have been making Angler Fish using paper mache. They have taken us all term but we are very proud of our efforts and it was worth all the work we have put into them.
Have fun looking around all the art and make sure you take a look into St.Pius X display.

Today was the Art Alive expo. When we got there Panmure bridge did a show for us. They had models who were cat walking on a white table. Then we got to look around for 15 minutes before the Tamaki college show. First stop was the fountain at Glenbrae.

Today we went to have a look at the Art Alive work that other schools had been doing. Panmure bridge shared their work and we looked at other schools too. I liked the underwater world pictures and art the best.

Greetings to all the schools taking part in this wonderful celebration today, especially to the newcomers.
This term Rooms 1 and 2 have learned about Pablo Picasso's works. We used his ideas of colour, shapes, and patterns to create a "frossil" collage. We had lots and lots of fun looking at different kinds of rubbish and talked about ways we use them again. Pablo Picasso also used old junk to make fantastic artwork.

I liked the way the models were walking they looked cool. I was shocked when I saw that boy with the waka ama costume it looked really heavy. Then we went to see what the other schools were doing.

Today we had the art alive expo. First we saw this boy Robert and a girl whose name was Julia I think, I was watching their speech. It was funny. We went to look around, the peoples work was 100% good work.

My favourite arty crafty stuff were the mermaids and mermen, very clever clay work.
the use of glitter enhanced the collage work from the students from Glenbrae School.
The photos by Panmure Bridge School were very clever and these should be hung in the local public library.
Is any of the work for sale?
